Synopsis
JoBeth Smalls is an eleven-year-old girl who gets bullied at school. With her mother in a coma and no one else to go to for help, she writes a letter to Santa Claus asking for revenge. Her wishes come true when Klaus, a deranged version of Santa Claus with a taste for blood and automatic weapons, pays her foes a visit. He is accompanied by two foul-mouthed, psychotic elves. One of them, Baldfred, has a drinking problem and loves his women big and trashy. The other one, Alpinolo, is a mute goblin whose hobbies include porn and teddy bear
humping.

Carlos Torrens grew up in his hometown until moving, at 18, to Los Angeles, California, to study film directing.

In 2006, a year before finishing his studies, he won the Fotogramas award for his short film Coming to Town, launching a prolific career as a short filmmaker that includes the multi-award-winning Sequence, winner of the Canal Plus Award at Clermont-Ferrand and a nominee at Sitges, Tribeca, and many other prestigious festivals.

At 26, Torrens directed his first commercial feature, Emergo, an international co-production written and produced by Rodrigo Cortés and released in more than 30 countries.

Since then, he has directed two more features: Animal de Compañía (Companion Animal), shot entirely in Los Angeles with Dominic Monaghan in the lead role, premiered at the South By Southwest festival in Austin, Texas, and winner of the Best Screenplay award at the Sitges Film Festival in 2016. In 2024 he released Apocalipsis Z: El principio del fin (Apocalypse Z: The Beginning of the End). This Nostromo Pictures and Amazon MGM Studios production is based on the best-selling novel of the same name by Manel Loureiro. In 2025 he began production on Apocalipsis Z: Nuevo mundo (Apocalypse Z: New World), which will be available on Prime Video worldwide on 30 October.

Since 2018, Torrens has lived in Spain, where he has directed episodes for the TV series Vis a Vis (Locked Up), Malaka, El Ministerio del Tiempo (The Ministry of Time), El Internado: Las Cumbres, Feria (Feria: The Darkest Light), Sky Rojo, and Citas Barcelona."
