DIRECTOR’S STATEMENT The Salazar Crimes was born from a question that has always haunted me: Why are we so drawn to horror when it happens for real? Beyond morbid curiosity, there’s a collective need to look into darkness — to understand it, or to jus-tify it. This film explores that impulse, and the increasingly blurred line between narrative and reality, from an uncomfortable, almost voyeuristic perspective. I wanted to build a story where truth is not a fact, but a performance — a film that feeds on the very language of crime itself: the videos, the testimonies, the endless reconstructions. At its core, The Crimes of Salazar is not so much about a murderer, but about those who choose to watch.
